The USTHS Community Development Unit conducted a medical and dental mission at the Juan Sumulong Elementary School in the San Lazaro district last Sunday, December 7, 2008. Over a thousand people, mostly children benefitted from the program. The alumni association bought and spent nearly P30,000 worth of generic medicines and supplies as the sponsor of the activity. It also coordinated the participation of UST alumni medical practitioners. It gave P10,000 to the USTHS as food subsidy for the volunteer doctors and nurses.

Faculty member Ms. Imelda Rosales is Chair of the Community Development Program unit in USTHS. Laureen Morales of Batch 1973 coordinated the participation of the alumni association. Cherry Tanodra of Batch 1990 sent nurses and nursing aides to the activity.

In a related development, the Class of 1981 successfully conducted its own batch medical mission in Barangay Mambog in Bulacan last November 23, 2008.
