USTHS Regent to Officiate Penultimate Mass at Batch ’86 Alumnus’ Wake
The UST High School Regent, Fr. Rodel E. Aligan, O.P., will officiate a Holy Mass on August 3, 2009, Monday, for the eternal repose of USTHS graduate Ronald Rene Lucio Canda, who succumbed to cardiac arrest in the morning of July 27, 2009, at age 39.
The wake for Ronald, whose nickname was “Jets,” is ongoing at the Imperial Standard room of the North (or main) Building of La Funenaria Paz Inc. at 163 G. Araneta Avenue corner Kaliraya Street, Quezon City. The Mass will be held at 5 p.m.
Jets graduated from USTHS in 1986. While a USTHS student, he had been the Vice President of Student Catholic Action and a member of the Model Platoon. Jets was likewise a staffer of the Aquinian and an Editorial Assistant of the Veritas yearbook.
At the time of his passing, Jets was the Chief Finance Officer of Ergo Contracts Philippines Inc.
Jets was the fourth of six children; all of Jets’ siblings are USTHS alumni, namely Tina Rose Marie (Batch ’78), Carolyn Anne Canda-Benigno (’79), Raymond Rene (’84), Concepcion Aimee Canda-Camaligan (’88) and Carisse Aileen (’92).
A certified public accountant, Jets took up his elementary studies at Dominican School, graduating in 1982. For his tertiary studies, he enrolled at the UST College of Commerce, where he became the Public Relations Officer of the UST chapter of the Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants and was the Editor in Chief of the Commerce Journal. He earned his Accounting degree, Cum Laude, in 1990.
Jets is survived by his mother Concepcion, his siblings and other relatives. His remains will be cremated on August 4, 2009, Tuesday, at Funeraria Paz.
